The current Gatherings and Events Order is in place until January 31, 2022.  Updates related to fitness facilities are summarized below, along with some clarification that we have received from the office of the Provincial Health Officer:

  • For determining whether proof of vaccination is required, ‘event’ is defined as
    • any indoor gathering of more than 50 people for social, entertainment, dancing, choral, musical, recreational, gambling, arts or crafts, or business and includes a ticketed sports activity, concert, theatrical production, dance or symphony performance, festival, conference, convention, trade fair, home show, workshop, wedding reception, funeral reception not at a funeral home, and a sponsored ticketed party
    • any indoor gathering of any size adult sport activity or an exercise fitness, or dance activity or class

but excluding programs for children and youth up to age 21.

Flipside Covid Safety Plan ... viewable heredownload pdfwebp

Sunday May 3, 2020.

Hello parents and students. We are keeping up with latest news regarding the Covid-19 virus and we are awaiting information from the Federal and Local governments on when it might be appropriate to start classes again. We do hope that by June 1 we can resume the tail end of the current session but if that does not happen we will move into registrations for summer camps and September pre-registration. We are going to give families a break and reduce annual registration fees by 50% and there will be NO increase in fees for the next year.

Wednesday April 8, 2020.

Hello parents and students. We do hope you are well and staying safe in this difficult time. Yesterday afternoon we did finally receive message from Health BC to confirm the mandatory closure of gyms in BC. We did comply as of March 17th. This closure is probably going to last perhaps until July 1st. We do hope to be in a position to again offer summer camps and at that time we will be taking pre-registration for September as well. Classes will be limited in September as we rebound from this issue. There will be an offering available come July 1st that will most likely be in the form of first month at 25% discount with NO Annual Registration Fee for a confirmation of 3 months in registration. However we are still working out this offering and will advise when it is established. Thank you again and be well.

Tuesday March 24. 6:00am.

Hello students and parents of Flipside Gymnastics. Please note that during this temporary closure we will not be charging any fees to automatic payment until such time as classes resume. Again, NO FEES will be charged to your credit cards or account. We are hoping for the best outcome in this difficult time. Should you have any questions or comments regarding our closure please direct all your inquiries to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Please be safe and we wish your family all the best.

Thursday, March 19th., 12pm

Dear Flipside Gymnastics Parents,

As of Thursday, March 19th, 2020 all financial transactions have suspended. No further processing of any sort will take place until the reopening of gyms from closure.

All families will be notified once we are able to return to regular programming. This temporary closure will not affect your current registration, class day or time.

Please stay safe and we look forward to seeing you all in the very near future. Stay home please during this pandemic.

Monday, March 16th, 4:00pm

Flipside Gymnastics based on reports today with VIU closing and the City of Nanaimo suspending all Parks and Recreation programs we at Flipside will be closing at end of day this evening March 16th until March 31st. We are reviewing the situation for Friday March 27th. Should things improve we will make further considerations then. We are closely watching CDC and Government of Canada reports.

Monday, March 16th, 9:30am

As of this morning, City of Nanaimo recreation centers are proceeding with their Spring Break Camps. As we wish to be proactive and responsible in our dealing with this Pandemic we will mirror what these public centers do and should they close we shall consider the same.Given that the City takes its direction from the Provincial Health Officer, we are advising families that there could be a scenario where the Flipside has to cancel Spring Break Camps and other programs. If there are any cancellations to programs we will be contacting families via direct email and phone. Make up classes for regular programs will be available in the immediate further should there be a closure.
